On Thursday we had our Children’s University assembly to celebrate the wonderful amount of hours the children have achieved since September last year. Every year in school we take part in the national Children’s University programme, which aims to recognise and celebrate the learning that children complete outside of normal school hours. Each child who chooses to become a member will be able to collect hours of learning from a range of school activities and from organisations outside school. Activities such as Brownies, football clubs, dance, Boathouse Youth, swimming lessons, language lessons, chess club and Karate are all examples of the kind of clubs that hours can be collected from. In the Summer term all the hours are totalled and converted into awards ready for your child’s graduation.
Children’s University Graduation Ceremony is held at school to celebrate each child’s success! They will be awarded with their certificate whilst wearing their cap and gown with pride. New sign up/registration forms will be sent out in September if your child is interested in joining. Due to Year 4 being on their trip to the Manchester Museum they will have their assembly next Monday at St Cuthbert’s. Please see Miss Smith for more information. Pixie H from Year 6 has been selected to represent England at the prestigious Dance World Cup which is being held in Spain. Her award was given to her during the Year 6 leavers ball on Wednesday evening where she picked up a PHD certificate for all the hours she had done.
Thanks to all those who have helped in making this years assembly memorable, especially for our Year 6 children. Special thanks goes to Mrs Forster who has spent many hours of her own time getting things ready for this celebration – she even baked every child their own Children’s University 2026 biscuit.
