Update 27th May 2020 - Temporary School Closure

Created: Wednesday, 27 May 2020 17:39

As a precaution, we are closing Christ the King Academy and St. Mary’s Catholic Academy sites for all
staff and pupils for the next 48 hours. We have taken this decision as a very small number of the
Academy community have recently tested positive for Covid-19.
We are currently working closely with Public Health England to determine our next steps. We have
taken this precautionary decision to temporarily close while we undertake detailed risk assessments.
We are also taking the opportunity to clean all sites thoroughly. We do not wish to expose any pupils
or staff to additional risk whilst we are undertaking these steps.
Any staff or pupils directly affected have been contacted already by senior staff.
Thank you for your understanding and support. We appreciate your concerns and are working hard
to address these as soon as possible.
If you are concerned about your child’s health, in the meantime, please contact 111.

Update 22nd May 2020

Created: Friday, 22 May 2020 13:19

Dear Parents,

I hope this note finds you safe and well. I wanted to update you, before the bank holiday weekend, with the school's plans on a safe return to school, for some year groups, in line with government guidance. A letter will be issued on class do jo on Tuesday 26th May 2020, informing you of these plans. A text will also be sent confirming that the message is available online and anyone unable to access do jo can contact school for a paper copy.

Kind regards

Mrs Sarah Smith

Update 10th May 2020

Created: Sunday, 10 May 2020 20:26

Dear Parents/Carers

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement at 7pm this evening, we would like to clarify how this affects your child.

From tomorrow, there are no changes to the pupils who can attend school – these are the children of critical workers (as outlined in government documentation which can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-maintaining-educational-provision/guidance-for-schools-colleges-and-local-authorities-on-maintaining-educational-provision). We also provide care for vulnerable pupils who staff at school have already been in contact with from the start of the partial closure.

Unless you have previously agreed a place in school, please do not attend tomorrow.

We are working hard to see how we can safely get some Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 pupils in from June 1st. We are also planning how Year 10 and Year 12 may see staff before the summer. Again, more clarity from the government is needed as it is essential that we do this in a way which protects our pupils, staff and all of our families.

When we get updated guidance from the government, we will be able to let you know if this situation changes.

Thank you for your understanding.

Mrs H. O’Neill   Mr S. Eccles Mrs S. Smith
